Terms of Service

Effective Date: 19 September 2026 · Last Updated: 19 September 2026

Summary: Kaset is a free app for tracking the movies, shows and anime you watch, with no subscription, no in-app purchase and no advertising. There are no user accounts, and your library lives in a database on your device rather than on a server we operate. You own what you write in it. Title information comes from TMDB, and a few features can optionally connect to services we do not run: a tracker account, your own cloud storage, or an AI provider you supply your own key for. Because your data is local, keeping a backup is up to you. The app is provided as is, and you can stop using it at any time by deleting it. The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled and forms part of these terms.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of the Kaset mobile application ("Kaset", "the Application", "we", "us", or "our"), a personal media tracker for movies, television shows and anime on iOS and Android. By downloading, installing or using the Application, you confirm that you have read these Terms and agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Application; deleting it ends the agreement, and there is no account to close.

Our Privacy Policy describes how information is handled in the Application and forms part of these Terms. Where the two overlap, the Privacy Policy governs questions about information handling.

2. Who May Use Kaset

Kaset is a general-audience application and is not directed to children. You may use it if you are at least 13 years old, or older where your country sets a higher minimum age for agreeing to terms of this kind (for example, 16 in parts of the European Economic Area). If you are under the age of majority where you live, use Kaset only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You may not use Kaset if the laws that apply to you prohibit it.

3. Your Licence and Our Intellectual Property

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to install and use the Application on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. This is a licence to use the Application, not a sale of it. The Application itself, including its software, design, interface and the Kaset name and logo, belongs to us or to our licensors, and we keep every right these Terms do not expressly grant you.

Except where the law gives you a right we cannot restrict, you agree not to:

  • sell, rent, lend, sublicense or redistribute the Application, or bundle it into another product;
  • modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it, or try to derive its source code;
  • remove or obscure any notice of copyright, trademark or other ownership in it; or
  • use it to build a competing product, or to extract catalog data for redistribution.

Catalog data, artwork and other material supplied by the third-party services in Section 6 belong to those services or their own rights holders, not to us, and are subject to their terms.

4. Acceptable Use

Kaset runs on your device and holds your own records, so most of what you do with it concerns nobody else. The limits below exist for the few things that do. You agree not to:

  • use the Application to break a law that applies to you, or to infringe someone else's rights;
  • interfere with the Application or the services it connects to, including by circumventing rate limits, scraping catalog data in bulk, or automating requests at a scale a person would not generate;
  • store or share content through it that is unlawful, that harasses or defames someone, or that you have no right to share;
  • distribute malicious code, or try to gain unauthorised access to any system it communicates with; or
  • present a shared profile or list as published or endorsed by us, or by any third-party service.

Kaset does not host, stream, download or index any film, episode or other video. It records what you say you have watched and shows information about those titles. Where and how you watch something is your own affair, and your responsibility.

5. Your Content and Sharing

"Your Content" means everything you create in the Application: your library and watch history, your ratings, reviews, notes and tags, your lists and collections, and anything else you write or arrange there. You own Your Content. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to it. It is stored in a private database on your device, and we hold no copy of it on any server we operate, so there is nothing for us to read, publish or sell. You are responsible for Your Content, including for having the right to store it and, if you share it, the right to share it.

Kaset can share a profile or a list by generating a link. A shared link carries catalog references only: the titles themselves, as identifiers in the public catalog described in Section 6. It does not carry your notes, reviews, watch history, watch dates, or anything else you have written.

Sharing is under your control and is not on by default. Once you send a link, you cannot control what happens to it: anyone who has it can open it and pass it on. Share one only with people you are content to show those titles to.

6. Third-Party Services, API Keys and Connected Accounts

Some parts of the Application depend on services that other companies run. We do not own, operate or control them. Their availability, accuracy, behaviour and terms are theirs, not ours, and can change or stop without notice to us. Your use of each one is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them.

Catalog data (TMDB)

Titles, artwork, descriptions, cast and other catalog information shown in the Application come from The Movie Database (TMDB), and TMDB's own terms of use apply to that data. It is contributed by TMDB's community and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong; we present it as we receive it and do not warrant it. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Tracker accounts and cloud sync

You can optionally connect a third-party watch tracker, currently Simkl and possibly others such as Trakt in the future, and you can optionally sync your library to your own cloud storage, such as iCloud or Google Drive. Both are off by default. Your data then sits with that provider under its terms, its storage limits and its availability, not with us. You can disconnect at any time from the Application's settings; anything already synced is managed or deleted through that service directly. We are not responsible for a sync that fails, is delayed, or is affected by your provider's outage, quota or account status.

AI assistant, and your own keys

Kaset includes an optional AI assistant that works only if you supply your own API key for a third-party model provider ("bring your own key"). The Application sends your requests to that provider using your key; the provider generates the responses and handles those requests under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not operate the model and we do not supply a key. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or invented, including about titles, episodes and dates, so treat it as a suggestion to check rather than as fact.

If you add an API key or connect an account, you are responsible for it: for

  • having the right to use it, and complying with that provider's terms and usage limits;
  • keeping the key confidential, on any device where you enter it and in any backup that might contain it;
  • everything your provider bills you for, and any quota, rate limit or suspension that results from requests made with it; and
  • removing the key or disconnecting the account when you no longer want it used.

We do not receive, store or use your keys on our own systems, and we cannot recover, reset or dispute anything on your behalf with a provider. If you believe a key has been exposed, revoke it with whoever issued it.

7. Your Data and Your Backups

Because Kaset keeps your library on your device rather than on a server we run, keeping a backup is your responsibility. We hold no copy of your data, so we cannot restore it for you under any circumstances. Your data can be lost in ordinary ways that are outside our control, including if you:

  • delete the Application, or reset, lose, sell or damage your device;
  • use the Application's own option to erase all data;
  • restore a device from an older backup, or move to a new device without one; or
  • have neither a device backup nor cloud sync turned on.

Turning on your operating system's backup (iCloud Backup or Google backup), or the optional cloud sync in Section 6, reduces that risk but does not remove it. Those are other companies' services, and we do not guarantee that a backup or a sync will be complete, current or restorable.

8. App Stores

Kaset is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and your download is also governed by the terms of the store you used, which apply alongside these. The stores are not parties to this agreement, they are not responsible for the Application, and they have no obligation to provide support for it.

For the Apple App Store specifically: this agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the Application. If the Application fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the Application. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim that the Application or your use of it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

9. Availability and Changes to Kaset

Kaset is made and maintained by one independent developer. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop distributing or supporting the Application entirely. We will try to give reasonable notice before a change that materially reduces what the Application does, but we do not promise that any particular feature will keep working, or that the Application will be available without interruption or error.

Updates arrive through the app stores and over the air, as described in the Privacy Policy, and an update may change how a feature works. A feature that depends on a third-party service may stop working if that service changes its terms or interface or shuts down, which is outside our control. We may also suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these Terms, or if the law requires it.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

In plainer words: we do not promise that the Application will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure against every risk; that it will work on every device or operating-system version; that catalog data, statistics or AI output will be accurate or complete; or that data will never be lost. You use the Application at your own discretion and risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or statutory consumer guarantees, so the exclusions above apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits consumer rights that cannot be limited by agreement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, arising out of or in connection with the Application or these Terms, whether the claim is based in contract, tort, statute or any other theory, and whether or not we were told such loss was possible. This includes data you lose because no backup existed, the acts, omissions, outages or content of any third-party service described in Section 6, and anything that happens after you share a link.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential loss, so the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Changes, Governing Law and Contact

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Application or for legal, technical or operational reasons. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and post the revised version at this same address, and material changes will be reflected in the Application. Continuing to use Kaset after a revised version takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, stop using the Application and delete it.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the developer is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from the Application. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law provisions where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right. Personal data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy, which already addresses the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and other applicable privacy laws.

General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Application. If a provision is found unenforceable, it is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force; not enforcing a provision once does not waive it later. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms, and we may transfer ours only as part of a transfer of the Application. Sections that by their nature should survive the end of this agreement do so, including Sections 5, 10, 11 and 12. These Terms are also published in Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish; every version is intended to mean the same thing, and if they differ the English version governs.

Contact

If you have a question about these Terms, or about anything the Application does, write to radwan.albahrani@gmail.com, or reach us from within the Application via Settings → Contact & Support. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us: most issues are easier to fix directly, and we would rather fix them. We aim to reply within a reasonable period of time.
